Performance Improvement: “Accredited CME as a Bridge to Quality”

Used under license from ACCME

Performance Improvement (PI) activities describe structured, long–term processes by which a physician or group of physicians can learn about specific performance measures, retrospectively assess their practice, apply performance improvement measures prospectively over a useful interval, and reevaluate their performance.

As a provider of AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™, the Yale School of Medicine, through its Center for Continuing Medical Education, is committed to offering PI CME activities to support healthcare providers in making appropriate changes to their practice.

Currently, Yale CME designates specified activities as CME–credit eligible towards Performance Improvement. In addition to attending a live activity and receiving credit for attendance, physicians may earn up to 20 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.

Completing a self–directed Performance Improvement activity will require the following:

  • There are 3 stages (Stages A, B, C listed below, 5 credits each) that need to be completed to earn all 20 credits. Follow the links below to access each stage and the required activities and documentation required to successfully complete each one.
  • An additional 5 credits will be awarded for successful completion of each stage; Completion of all 3 stages is required to earn the total of 20 CME credits.
  • All of the required forms are available on this website, and must be downloaded, printed, and completed manually. They can then be faxed to 203–785–3083 or e–mailed to cme@yale.edu
  • Complete the PI CME Course Registration Form and submit to Yale CME. This provides basic information and indicates your interest in completing the self–directed portion of the activity.
